Solos & Duets
I think this is my favorite recording. It was perhaps the most difficult to assemble as I had to work with 2 main files. I had one song that was instrumental, and one with Michael Crawford singing with Sarah Brightman. I had to mix the two in such a way that I would completely remove her vocals, but the problem was that the tempo was not the same between the songs, so I had to stretch time in one and fit in the parts to be somewhat seamless. Then when the 'instrumental' areas came up where she would have sang, I just recorded myself in those spots, sometimes overlapping with his voice as if I was there singing with him.
All I Ask Of You 3.70MB [Duet] (October 23, 2002)
This is the other version of Waterfall I sang as a solo. If you don't know the lyrics, it is best to listen to this one before the next version.
Waterfall Of Melancholy [Reprise] 2.27MB [Solo] (September 3, 2003)
One of my more recent compilations. The background instrumental music is Enya, but I wrote the lyrics myself and sang the melody. I mixed this particular version with my voice in two parts so it is essentially a duet with myself.
Waterfall Of Melancholy 2.27MB [Duet with myself] (August 31, 2003)
This is an enjoyable duet I did with Mandalay. I loved the piece and just had to try recording. In duets, I usually try to match my voice as much as I can so that it sounds more realistic and not like a bad karaoke session.
Beautiful 4.29MB [Duet] (December 27, 2003)
One of my good friends from CSOM introduced me to Chyi Yu's music and this was my first pick as a few of the parts were really fun to record. I like singing in higher octaves and this fell in that category in some sections.
Songs & Silhouettes 1.70MB [Duet] (April 11, 2004)
This is a duet that mixes two languages. I believe the other language besides English is Japanese. It's a very light, flowing song that seems soothing. Chyi Yu is the other vocalist.
Edge Of A Dream 4.32MB [Duet] (May 9, 2005)
This is a piece I did after the original song was shared with me by a friend. I loved the dreamy fluidity of the romantic melody and it inspired me to do a duet recording.
Kissing 8.63MB [Duet] (September 26, 2005)
Bringing back memories of Celine Dion and the unforgettable Titanic movie, this song was a challenge to sing right and be more original in my style rather than trying to match previous singer's tones and inflections. I was pleased with the result.
My Heart Will Go On 4.40MB [Solo] (November 29, 2003)
A song with a lot of meaning to me; it was more of a floating, soft style. Almost whispery. The other duet singer is Dido.
Here with Me 5.04MB [Duet] (November 30, 2003)
I remember this being sang by some high school kids back when I was in grade 10 or 11. I liked it then and it was something that would have me try different ranges and adapt my style.
Foolish Games 3.66MB [Solo] (October 9, 2004)
I first heard this song on a Friends episode and was drawn to it. Since most of my enjoyment comes from singing as a hobby, it was a nice break to sing a different kind of song.
My Immortal 1.58MB [Solo] (May 7, 2004)
Evanescence can be quite intense at times, but this was one piece that I found more relaxed. It seems sad and meandering.. but I liked it.
Hello 1.44MB [Duet] (August 20, 2004)
My attempt at techno. I came across the piece while looking for some techno with good bass.
Heaven 3.68MB [Solo] (August 19, 2004)
All the vocals in this piece are my own. I mixed the different sections on overlapping tracks in Adobe's Audition.
Tears In Heaven 2.28MB [Solo] (March 22, 2003)
I chose another Scandinavian techno piece with Dina because it was challenging with both the style, and the language difference. It's upbeat, fast and has good energy.
Savner Deg 4.93MB [Duet] (May 9, 2005)
My best friend shared this song with me, so this is the result of my overlay recording for the duet with Tori Amos.
A Sorta Fairytale 4.04MB [Duet] (February 23, 2004)
Done in French with Kate Ryan, this one is a fast paced techno version of another song I'm planning on doing in English.
Mon Coeur Resiste Encore 5.63MB [Duet] (May 9, 2005)
Trying something different, I decided to expand my range to include other languages. As another piece in Scandinavian, I continued to use Dina as the base voice for my duet. I learned the lyrics mostly as something new to try and for fun, rather than a polished piece. Again, it is techno, but a more calm selection.
Aldri Igjen 1.32MB [Duet] (April 10, 2004)
Not an easy song to nail, but it was one of my favorites and probably one of the only decent Christmas tunes I have recorded.
Silent Night 2.46MB [Solo] (October 28, 2002)
This selection is the first I ever recorded. I managed to come across an instrumental version of this song - one I first heard in a Final Fantasy game, and proceeded to record. I have been told that I sound Japanese.. I did sing it differently for effect.
Eyes On Me 0.99MB [Solo] (May 2, 2002)
Back when I actually had time to do more hobbies, I played the organ and piano. This piece demonstrates some of my piano playing along with my solo vocals. Phantom of the Opera was an old favorite of mine, so this song was fitting.
Memory (Piano & Vocal Compilation) 2.54MB [Solo] (September 5, 2002)
I think this song has a fair amount of feeling in it. I try to feel the part when I sing and this was an experiment in balancing enjoyment and the true message of the song.
Hero 4.25MB [Solo] (August 20, 2004)
A more new age piece that I had a lot of fun mixing. I believe it has more deep feeling and uniqueness than some of my other pieces. Unfortunately, the instrumental version I found was actually broken and skipped a part, so I had to fix it before I could even start recording.
I Wanna Love You Forever 3.74MB [Solo] (August 20, 2004)
